PROJECT OVERVIEW

Global Competencies and Economic Integration is a project sponsored by the United States in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Human Resources Development Working Group. The project aims to:

1 ) Assess the demand for linguistic and cultural human capital in the employment sectors of APEC economies; and
​
2 ) Determine if the supply of linguistic and cultural human capital is adequate.

Survey of demand for global competencies

Phase one of the project surveyed executives and human resource managers of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within APEC economies about how global competencies are considered in the recruiting and training of new hires.

A second step of the project will survey the output of individuals with global talent from tertiary education institutions and private sector/informal education  within APEC economies.
